About the Cricket / Grasshopper

Live crickets and grasshoppers under a small bobber are the most effective panfish bait in warm weather. When terrestrial insects are naturally falling into the water in summer, bluegill, crappie, and trout actively feed on them along shorelines and under overhanging trees. Hook a cricket through the back on a #6–#10 hook, set your bobber 2–3 feet deep, and cast near structure. This is how generations learned to fish.
